If the air compressor is not functioning at all, the first thing you will need to check is the power supply. As an example, I will be referring to the Firestone Air Command Compressor System w/ Light Duty Compressor - Wireless - Smartphone Enabled - Single Path # F2610.
You will need to check the power going into the ECU, which in this case will be the red wire. This should be done as close to the plug that snaps into the ECU as possible. If you are getting power to the ECU, you will then need to move down the line to the compressor. There will be a spade terminal/connector on the red power wire and this is where you should test, both before and after the connector. Lack of power to either of these components will mean you have a break in the wiring somewhere. This will mean you either need to repair the break, or replace the wiring harness.
On the other hand, if you are getting power to the components, you will either need to replace the components or the whole system. Which if both are getting power and not working, a full replacement will probably be the better option.
