For your 2011 GMC Sierra that has a factory-installed 7-way trailer socket you can hardwire a controller such as the excellent Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. All of the wires you need to connect the P3 are already run on your truck. You can locate this bundle of wires under the dash.
I have linked a complete installation article for you that details the entire process with color pictures and step-by-step instructions. I also linked a video showing installation in a 2011 Sierra.
The P3 is among the most reliable and advanced brake controllers we offer and includes features like a customizable display, built-in diagnostics and automatic leveling.
