What Do You Recommend for Adding Rise to Have a Higher Ground Clearance for a Cargo Carrier?
Question:
Looking for a ground clearance hitch adaptor for my cargo rack

I have a solution for you. When it comes to hitch adapters that provide rise to your trailer hitch for your cargo carrier, we only carry adapters that add rise for 2-inch hitch receivers. However, with that being said, we do carry adapters that enable you to carry 2-inch accessories on a 1-1/4 inch receiver that add rise. For that route, I recommend the Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" # HT5R. In addition to allowing you to use 2-inch accessories on your 1-1/4 inch hitch, the Brophy adapter adds 5 additional inches or rise.
For a great hitch adapter that will add extra rise to your 2-inch hitch receiver for your cargo carrier, I recommend the Patriot Hitches Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter 11" # PH54FR. The Patriot receiver allows you to add 11 inches of additional length and provides you with 700 pounds of tongue weight as well as 7,000 pounds of gross towing weight. However, it is important to note that any time you use a hitch adapter, you will decrease the maximum weight capacity of your hitch by 50%.
If you have questions about rear bumper clearance of your vehicle, I would be happy to assist you if you provide the year/make/model of your vehicle as well as the model of cargo carrier you want to attach.
