Weight Distribution/Sway Control for Travel Trailer w/1,460 lbs Tongue Weight and 2012 Ford F-250
Question:
What type of weight distribution hitch would you recommend for my trailer photo included? Im towing it with a 2012 Ford F250 turbo diesel super duty. GVWR 7,000lbs, tongue weight 1,460lbs, and we have a 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch.

Since the trailer tongue weight is so high and you have a 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch, I recommend Strait-Line Weight Distribution system, # RP66075. This system has a tongue weight capacity range of 1,000 to 1,700 pounds. The problem is that you may have to modify or remove the items on the trailer tongue, primarily the chest and platform the battery is setting on in order to use the system.
The lift brackets on this system will be centered 30 inches back from the center of the ball cavity on the coupler (measured diagonally along the frame rails from the coupler). And the brackets are about 5-1/2 inches long. So measure back from the center of the coupler ball cavity along the frame rails 30 inches. This is where the center of the brackets will be on the frame. the bracket will extend 2-3/4 inches forward and back from that point.
The other issue is that the shanks for this system, # RP54977, could have some possible fit issues with the Ford OEM 2-1/2 inch receiver. The shank has a more squared shape whereas the OEM hitch has more rounded corners. You should be able to remove some of the powder coat on the shank (careful not to grind away any metal) and get the shank to fit if it is an issue for you.
