Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2-1/2 inch Hitch with a Ford F350 2-1/2 inch Hitch
Question:
Hello. I really would like to purchase the Blue Ox BXW2000 clamp on weight distribution hitch. However, per the attached document which shows the Hitch Capacity on my F-350 Super Cab, the max trailer weight using the 2inch adapter is 12,500 lbs. TW 1250 lbs.. My trailer will be 14,000 lbs. If I use a 2.5inch drawbar, the max gross trailer weight is 19,000 lbs. with a tongue weight of 1900. I understand that BXW2000 will only work on a 2inch receiver. Is this true or is there any other Blue Ox option with the features that the BXW line has that will fit in a 2.5inch receiver. I am familiar with the Reese RP66075, which uses a 2 1/2inch receiver, but it does not have the same features as the Blue Ox and costs more, but will afford me higher limits trailer and tongue weight. Thanks and I love your website!

Based on the capacities of your hitch and the weight of your trailer you will have to use a WD system designed for a 2-1/2 inch hitch. There are no Blue Ox options so you would have to use a Reese like the part # RP66075 that you referenced. You would need a shank to go with this as well like part # RP54977.
You will like the Reese WD Straitline system much more than you would the Blue Ox. The Straitline features the only sway control on the market designed to prevent sway before it starts, plus all of the installers here think that the Reese systems are much easier to install and use than the Blue Ox ones.
