Troubleshooting Trailer Turn Signals and Brake Lights Not Working After Damaged Harness Blew Fuse
Question:
on my 2016 dodge ram quad cab 1500 i was towing a trailer, all lights fine... after removing the trailer, it was moved and the wire harness became damaged. This went unnoticed until I was moving down the road... no lights. I found a blown fuse under the hood in the fuse box, replaced and the lights worked... but blinkers/flashers do not. Vehicle lights works fine. Please advise.

I would be happy tp help.
Since the turn signals and brake lights on your trailer are powered by the same wire, you will want to first double check that there is not another blown fuse.
Typically, there are 2-3 fuses for the trailer connector, one being the 12v power to the connector, one being the trailer running lights, and the other being the trailer turn signals and brake lights.
If all of the fuses check out then using a circuit tester # PTW2993 test the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock pins if your 2016 Ram 1500 has a 7-way connector, or the two pins on the opposite side of the ground pin if you have a 4-way connector while the turn signals of your truck are turned on. (The ground pin is the pin that is the opposite of the other three pins as shown in the included diagram)
If you have power to the above pins, then double check the connections made to fix the damaged trailer connector are secure and not causing a connection issue.
Let me know what you find and we can go into more in-depth troubleshooting steps if needed.
