Can Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit Keep Charge on Trailer Battery

Question:

I have a 12v vehicle battery in my trailer for my hose reel on my spray rig. I want to keep this battery charged via my truck battery. By looking over other people questions it appears I need a BDW20206 to go from my truck back to the rear bumper. Then I need BDW20205 to go from the trailer battery to the front of the trailer to connect to the 20206. Is this correct? Will the 2 ends fit together? Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot

You can provide a maintenance charge to your battery with the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206 and # BDW20205 but there is a better way to keep this maintenance charge, which is to run 10 gauge wiring from 12 volt pin of your trailer's 7-way to the battery. If you have a 7-way all you would need to do is run the correct length of (sold by the foot) 10 Gauge Primary Wire # 10-1-1.

You will run this wire from the 7-way to the positive terminal on the trailer battery and ground the negative terminal of the trailer battery to the trailer frame.

If you don't have a 7-way you can add one to your vehicle and trailer with the following:

- 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L

- Hopkins 7-Way RV Style Connector with Molded Cable - Trailer End # H20046

Keep in mind these options would only provide a trickle charge to maintain the battery, and wouldn't charge it fully. In order to do that you would need a charger, the CTEK MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger # CTEK56353 or the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D.

I have added some links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
