Troubleshooting Lippert Ground Control "Out Of Stroke" Error When Attempting To Level On A Hill

Question:

When auto leveling my fifth wheel the system keeps giving me an out of stroke message. Tilt and Angle are both 0.0”. Camper is sitting level on an incline to the front. The rear jacks are both extended approx 4” on blocks and front jacks are extended approx 2” on the ground. The control panel confirms those extensions. Why do I get the message? How can the problem be corrected?

The error "out of stroke" will have one of 2 problems associated with the error on the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System # LC358590.

The first issue is that the jacks physically cannot lift any higher. And since you already checked that the jacks are not out of stroke we know that is not the issue.

The second issue is due to an overload of power being sent to the jack. This is common if the trailer weighs to much or has to much weight on a particular jack. It can also occur if a jack is bent, but I think it is occurring due to the hill that you are on. The hill is creating friction inside the jacks and that causes the jacks to present the error.

You can attempt to move jacks individually to ensure that they are not damaged. I suggest testing the auto level on a flat piece of ground to determine if you do have a possibly bent jack as well.
