Heavier Duty Leaf Springs To Replace Dexter 072-097-00 On 2018 Keystone Cougar 311RES 5th Wheel

Question:

Hello, I have a 2018 Cougar 311res with 2 Dexter 5200 lb axles. The leaf springs are looking flat and Id like to replace them. I dont think they are strong enough for the trailer, and I would like to gain some height in the back. The number on top of the springs looks to be Dexter 072-097-00. The existing springs are 4 leafs: Id like to go with 5 leafs. Would the e34SR springs fit? Id also need new, longer Ubolts not sure of the part number. Also, would you recommend installing a Morryde SRE4000 system? Thanks

I would be happy to help!

Since your 2018 Keystone Cougar 311 RES 5th wheel with tandem 5200lb Dexter axles has the Dexter 072-097-00 leaf springs currently installed the 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e34SR you were looking at will be an exact replacement for you.

These leaf spring are the same length at 25-1/4" and the 6000lb capacity of the # e34SR will give you the extra support you are looking for.

For replacement U-Bolts I recommend four of the U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-8 as it includes the correct length U-Bolts for these springs, new U-Bolt plates, and new nuts.

In regards to the MORryde SRE4000 system, based on the picture you provided it looks like you currently have the Road Armor equalizers. The MORryde SRE4000 will not provide a noticeable difference over your current equalizers, so you would be better of sticking with the Road Armor equalizers you have.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
