How To Convert 4-Way to 7-Way Trailer Connector for Wireless Brake Controller
Question:
Hi, I have an aftermarket hitch. It has a 4 flat connector. It also has a wiring harness inside the trunk. It also has a black power line that connects to the battery with a fuse. I have already purchased a 4 flat to 7 pin connector. What do I need to do to finish installing all of the wires for the 7 pin connector so that I can attach a brake controller to my vehicle. I am open to getting a wireless brake controller. Thank you.

In order to convert a 4-way trailer connector to a 7-way trailer connector for use with a wireless brake controller, I recommend using the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. This is a kit we designed specifically for use with a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller part # C51180. In order to hook up the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter you'll need to run a new wire (black) to the battery from the trailer connector. Then, you'll ground the white wire and hook up the two trailer connectors to one another. That will be all for the installation.
