Removing Brake Line Clips for Installation of Demco Above-Bed Base Rails
Question:
Hi, I’m planning to install this custom rail kit I purchased from etrailer on my 2500 Ram with 6.5 ft bed. The video is extremely helpful. I have a question though. It is not clear if/how the brake lines are attached back to the frame after installing the brackets. The lines have clips that attach to the frame and are pried off to install the brackets. Do the brackets cover the holes used for the brake line clips or can the lines be reattached like from the factory?

Expert Reply:
Yes when installing the Demco Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit, # DM8552025-71, you should be able to reinstall the brake lines as they where from the factory, careful to not brake or damage the clip. For installation of the brackets, the clips will/may need to be removed to accommodate installation of some hardware and for having access of tools/sockets to tighten nuts. Once the new brackets are installed the brake lines/clips should be able to be reset as per the factory.
