How To Make Hauling A 43ft Fifth Wheel More Comfortable With A 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax

Question:

Hi, I have had a 20ft deckover gooseneck for quite some time so i am not new to towing, but I am new to 5th wheel towing. I have a 43ft 5th wheel camper on order. I know its going to be a handful. I am towing with a 2019 duramax 2500 srw. I have the 7500lb load lifter air bags. Hitch is a Demco Autoslide. I dont want to get a bigger truck just yet. So my question is... Is there anything I can do to improve my setup? I was looking at the Hellwig sway bar but read conflicting information on whether or not it would help.

That is a pretty big camper. You have done most of what you can do on your 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 SRW Duramax. The anti sway bar on the truck is only going to really benefit you if you are hauling a bunch of weight in the bed of the truck which is not the same as hauling a fifth wheel on a hitch.

I would maybe look into upgrading the suspension on the trailer and adding something like the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Add-On Kit for Triple Axle Trailers Item # RM-2470-3. This kit is designed for triple axle trailers with 8000lb axles. This kit is know to make a big difference in ride quality. I recommend checking out the product page reviews on individuals who have installed and used this kit and how much of a difference it really makes.
