Determining If Trailer Suspension Is Correct Since It Has 28-3/4" Hanger Spacing Instead Of 29-1/2"

Question:

Also Im not sure the the axels are correctly mounted. I have 3 leaf x 26 1/2inch double eye spring, the front and rear hangers are 2, the center is 4 3/4inch to center of hole the shackles are 2 3/4inch center hole to center hole, and the equalizer is 5 1/2inch center hole to center hole. The hangers are 28 3/4inch apart. Also the axels are top mount. I read where someone else had a similar set up and you guys recommended 2 1/2inch hangers front and back and 3 1/2inch in the center and 29 1/2inch apart.

Thanks for the measurements!

You are correct that the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Tall Front/Center/Rear # APT5 you were looking at is designed around 29-1/2" hanger spacing but your suspension is a bit different in a few key ways.

The # APT5 uses 25-1/8" long springs and a 7-3/4" long equalizer, where your suspension uses a 26-1/2" spring and a 5-1/2" long equalizer.

With these difference it is very possible your suspension is setup correct, as hanger spacing is more of a starting guideline and may need to be moved to fit correctly on your specific trailer.

As long as your suspension is functioning correctly I would not worry about the minor differences. Now if your suspension geometry is off and your suspension is not working properly just let me know and send me a few pictures so we can get you taken care of.

I included a video of the # APT5 for you to take a look at.
