The Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Hitch Adapter, part # AM3100, is very easy to install and use. The base of the adapter will clamp down on the gooseneck ball in your truck bed just like a regular gooseneck coupler. You will insert the fifth wheel trailer king pin into the top of the adapter, and then bolt it to the base of the kingpin using provided mounting hardware and existing bolt holes.

This is a very safe product, it has a Gross Weight Capacity of 24,000 pounds and 6,000 pounds Tongue Weight. As long as your 40 foot fifth wheel trailer falls within these weight capacities, you will be fine.

The only downside of using this adapter versus a fifth wheel is that you loose a lot of options a regular fifth wheel hitch would provide. Fifth wheel hitches usually have a pivoting head that will make hook-ups easier and allow more trailer movement when needed.
