How to Wire the Motor and Switch for Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear LG-1
Question:
I have installed a LG-1 landing gear on a Jayco qwest fifth wheel travel trailer, now comes the Motor, it fits perfectly, but can you tell me how to wire it to the system? there are no wiring instructions in the package. There are four wires coming from the switch, two red, two black, one set of red, and black, are 31/2 ft. long, with a fuse in the red, one set are 61/2 ft. long, with no fuse. Can you help? Thank yoou.

The shorter, fused wire on the switch should be pink and the longer wire should be the true red wire. To connect the switch for the # LG-1 Stromberg Carlson landing gear motor, you will connect the longer black and red wires from the switch to the matching wires on the motor. The pink fused wire will be run to the trailer battery for 12V power on the positive terminal, and the shorter black wire will be grounded to the negative battery terminal.
It is a little confusing since the switch has wire colors that are so similar, but just think of the black wires as ground and the other two as power. I am including a diagram I made up for you to reference.
