Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For Trailer With Short A-Frame

Question:

Hi, I have a 2016 GMC Canyon diesel pickup that I am planning on hooking up to a 2013 Rockwood Mini Lite 1905 trailer 400# tw, 2945 empty weight. I really like the ease of setup with this system but do not know if the trailer’s tongue/a-frame will accommodate the arms of the hitch 27-30”. Would you all be able to tell me if this would be an issue? Thank you

Based on the picture you provided it does look like the tongue is pretty short and may not work with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch # FA92-00-0600.

If you measure back 27-30" from the center of the coupler and do not have room you will need to go with a different style of hitch.

I recommend the Curt MV Weight Distribution System - Round Bar - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # C17050 with bolt on brackets # C17005. The bolt on brackets are great because they mount on the side of the frame and will not interfere with frame mounted accessories.

The Curt MV system is still easy to use, so you do not need to feel like you are losing out by not using the Fastway system.

This option does not include sway control or a hitch ball so I recommend the friction sway control # 17200 and 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
