How to Determine 5th Wheel Pin Box to Switch to Gooseneck Adapter

Question:

I have a 2014 fifth wheel with a pin box that I want to convert to a gooseneck. Im having difficulty determining what the old pin box is. The only numbers I see on it are 1604868. Everyone says there should be a 3 or 4 number identifier number but I have looked all over it without detaching it and this is the only number I can find. Any suggestions? Frustrating!

I think we can make things less frustrating, as there is a way to identify your pin box even if you don't have the identifying plate or sticker to tell you exactly what it is. You will need to do a bit of measuring of the bolt holes on your pin box as well as the pin box itself, but this will allow you to determine exactly what you have.

I have added a link below to a help article called "Measuring to Determine the Correct Replacement Pin Box for a 5th-Wheel Trailer" which has the exact measurements you need to take. This will just be the pin box width, distance from the bolt holes to the king pin, and distances between bolt holes.

Once you determine that you can find the right 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter, and if you do have the common Lippert 1621 or 1621HD you can use the Reese Goose Box # RP85FR.

Otherwise, if you have something different I have added a link below to our selection of adapters, or if you let me know your measurements or pin box I can recommend the right one for you.
