How to Make Installing and Accessing Roof Mounted Cargo Boxes Easier

Question:

We have a Rav 4 and a thule sidekick. Its a long way across the top to get to the rear u mounts. Its almost impossible for one person to reach across, fit the u under the cross bars, come up through the holes, hold it steady, put on the support bracket then spin on the wingnuts. Is there any way easier way? Thank you

We offer a product that would make accessing any roof mounted accessory much easier.

Regardless of whether you're installing, removing, loading or unloading your # MPG901 Malone Cargo12 roof cargo box, a door step like the Rightline # RL100660 that installs using the door striker would make accessing the roof easy for even the most vertically-challenged folks (some of our customers even use it when they're washing and waxing the roof of the vehicle). The portion of the step that touches the vehicle is rubber coated so it won't scratch the paint and the step is small enough that it can easily be stashed away just about anywhere.

Once the cargo box mounts are closer within reach, you'll very likely find it easier to get everything installed efficiently.

I've link to a demonstration video showing how the step works.
