Can you Tow a Trailer at its Max Capacity  

Question:

Hi, i l bought a 4x6 trailer at lowes and i am looking to haul a 1800 lbs welding machine on it. My concern is that it is a 10 hr trip it does good on short distance..

Though you never want to go over the maximum capacity of the trailer, towing at its max is perfectly fine. That being said, there are a few things you will want to keep an eye on. Make sure you are following all speed limits while staying on smooth even roads and your tires are filled to the proper psi and are in good condition.

If this something you will be doing fairly often, however, you may want to supplement the suspension with something like heavier duty springs, like the Universal Group # SP-113275. These will be rated to 2,000 pounds per axle and will handle the weight better. Keep in mind that these are an example and may not be the same measurement as your current springs.
