Recommended Trailer Hitch, 7-Way Trailer Connector, and Brake Controller for 2009 Ford E-150
Question:
I am buying a 2009 ford E150 with a 4.6 V8. It doesn’t have a hitch or wiring. What kit do I need for a 7 pin plug with brake controller and hitch set up?

Expert Reply:
The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2009 Ford E-150 is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75703 which is an excellent option with class III rating. In order to add a 7-way you'll have to start with a 4-way, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118551 which is plug-in-play. This can then be adapted to a 7-way using the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. This kit also comes with everything else you need to install a brake controller for which I recommend the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller part # 39510 with Brake Controller Pigtail part # 7894.
