7-Pole to 5-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Adapter For Towing Boat Trailer With 2020 Audi Q5
Question:
I have a 2020 Audi Q5 with a hitch installed. The wiring plug on the Q5 is a round plug that has a connection for Electric Brakes, RH Stop/Turn, Backup Lamps, LH Stop/Turn, and Running Lamps see attached Picture. My boat trailer has a standard 5 pin flat connector. The trailer brakes are the manual type that engage when pushing against the hitch when the car brakes. So when I am backing the trailer up the brakes engage unless I either put the key in to prevent the trailer from depressing against the hitch or I use the electrical signal from the back-up lights of my vehicle that connect to the 5th pin on the trailer wiring. Is there a wiring harness that I can get that will connect between my Q5 wiring and boat trailer wiring that will use the electrical signal to disengage the trailer brakes when backing up?

We've got exactly what you need. You'll need a 7-way to 5-pole adapter like # A75TB. The adapter will pick up the signal from the reverse lamp pin of your 7-way and deliver it to the 5 pole connector on your boat trailer. When your Q5 is shifted into reverse, the lock-out solenoid on your hydraulic trailer brake coupler will close, preventing the brakes from actuating while you back the trailer.
