Can 12V Power Supply for Taillight Converter Be Obtained from Outlet in Cargo Area of Vehicle
Question:
Hi- Im getting ready to install your wiring harness CURT #56208 on my 2016 Jeep Cherokee, Im hoping I can tap into the hot wire that feeds the rear drivers side accessory outlet near the rear hatch, rather than running the wire all the way to the engine compartment as they suggest... is this possible/acceptable? If not, Id sure like to know why! :- thanks guys.

Curt recommends getting that power directly from the positive battery terminal.
One of the primary purposes of drawing the power for the taillights directly from the battery is to isolate the wiring system of the vehicle from the trailer wiring. This way, the vehicle wiring will be protected from any short circuits that might occur in the trailer wiring.
I can't recommend you install the Curt # C56208 in any other manner than what the manufacturer recommends. You can see installation instructions and an install video by clicking the provided links.
