Replacing 12 Volt Halogen Flood Lights with LEDs

Question:

I have a horse trailer that has 2 area lights in the back . They are 55 watt halogen floods lights. I want to replace them with LED area lights that wont draw so many amps but has good area coverage. What size and watts do I need to replace them with? Thanks

The best way to look at this is by comparing Lumen output. Your 55 watt halogen flood light has about 1,000 lumens. The 55 watts 12 volts is pulling 4.583 amps for each light.

The Great White LED Work Light # PE42CR will give you 2,000 lumens (twice the light) and only use 2.89 amps of 12V power. It has a Flood light beam so light will be spread across a larger area than that of a spot beam.
