Solution to Replace 8-Pin Connector on Older RV
Question:
My HR is wired with an 8 round receptacle for connection to the tow vehicle. This is antiquated and I cannot find an adapter. I would like to re-wire the receptacle to a 7-blade RV connection like I have on my 2008 F250. It seems all the products I look at envision me replacing the receptacle with a hard-wired cable. I would prefer to wire a new receptacle and use a removable cable from the camper to the tow vehicle. This way the cable is protected from the elements when not in use. Is this possible?

What you are looking to do is technically possible but the corrosion you are trying to prevent would still be an issue if the conditions were correct for it. The problem is that either way there is going to be metal connectors that would be exposed either on the 7-way or the wires that attach the harness to the 7-way so the opportunity for corrosion wouldn't be eliminated. On the trailer side you could use the part # 47549 and then on the vehicle side # HM47210.
