Which License Plate Bracket with Light for Cargo Carrier to be Used with Curt Auxiliary LED Lights

Question:

Hi, I recently purchased https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Curt/C53201.html auxiliary indicator lights for my cargo carrier. I did t think about my license plate being blocked until I had already ordered the lights. So now I need to put my license plate on the cargo rack and add a light. Can you walk me through that - what parts, how to add that light to the mix? I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Thanks so much for the help!

In order to add a light to a cargo carrier I recommend using the Optronics LED Trailer License Plate Light w/ Bracket - 5 Diodes - Clear Lens # LPL55CB. The Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201 does not provide an easy solution for powering the license plate light, however you will want to tap into the running light circuit either on the wire that runs to the plug or you can bypass the plug on the wiring and connect directly to the running light circuit on your vehicle's 4 way plug (brown wire).

You'll need some heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5 and 10 gauge wiring # 10-1-1 to complete these tasks, and likely a circuit tester # PTW2993 if you're going to tap into the wiring on the lights themselves. I've linked some wiring articles that you might find helpful on this, since they outline how a 4 way trailer plug is wired.
