Mounting a Redarc Tow-Pro Elite to a 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Question:

Hello, I took a leap of faith in thinking I can install this on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee KL with the factory tow package. I am not sure where I will place the main unit and the dial control. I have seen videos for the Grand Cherokee, but the KL doesnt have the same layout. Do any customers have experience and could share photos or can the etrailer folks provide some input? I purchased the brake controller along with the adaptor so that it will fit to my pre-existing factory towing package wiring. Thank you. Don

The Redarc # RED44FR can definitely work with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee KL. That being said, we have not any installs on this vehicle as of yet, so we do not have a video to assist. I can, however, offer some guidance.

I tend to drive with my left hand on the wheel with my right hand free to whatever it needs to do, so I would end up mounting the dial below and to the right of the Start/Stop button. This would provide free and clear access if needed without having to change hands on the wheel.

If you tend to drive with your right hand on the wheel with your left hand free, I would suggest mounting the dial near the headlights and dimmer knob.

If you follow the 10 and 2 positions for your hands on the wheel, you could technically go either way, but try touching where the button would be on either side before doing the final install. The best place for the dial is the most comfortable and natural place it will be reached for.

As to the main control box, it is another case of where it fits, it should go. There isn't a standard for mounting these and do not need to be set at a specific angle, making it pretty versatile. I typically tell people to put them up and out of the way behind a kick panel or up inside the dash.

I include a few install videos on other vehicle that may help with your install as well.
