Recommended Bike Carrier That Allows Easy Loading For Heavy Bikes And Electric Bikes

Question:

I think I got the subject right. What I need to know is how many inches higher than the hitch will the platform be? I will be using for an e-bike that weighs right at 40 pounds and will be mounted on my 2017 Freelander motorhome. The hitch on the motorhome is 12inch from the ground and I am a widow so Ill have o lift the bike on and off alone, so the additional height is a concern.

The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 1 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY10007 that you mentioned has a shank rise of about 4-3/4". This is a fairly similar amount of shank rise compared to the other 1-bike carriers that are available for your 40lb electric bike.

If you think this will be an issue for you then I highly recommend looking into the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y36FR instead of the RockyMounts. While this is more bike rack than you need for 1 bike, it is the best option for you in terms of easy loading due to the fact that it has an integrated 52" ramp. You will also have the capacity for a second bike if that is ever a necessity down the road. The weight capacity is 66lbs per bike and it is compatible with motorhomes so it will work well for you in many aspects. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you to check out regarding these two bike racks.
