Recommended Rear Suspension Enhancement For 2018 Ram 1500 Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 4X4 CrewCab with 5.7L with factory springs. I have ordered a TT with a hitch weight of 795 lbs and TT dry weight of 6988 lbs if that matters or not I dont know. Also I am not sure you need to know this but I am going to use a hensley arrow hitch as well. I was going to get the Timbren TDR1500DQ as there rated at 8600lb capacity. However I see there are two other Timbren load capacitys, one is 7000lb and other 6000lb I believe. I just wanted to get your opinion for of what you would get if you where pulling the same weight TT and have the same pull setup vehicle as I do? Thanks ahead of time

Since the only weight from your Travel Trailer that will effect the rear suspension of your 2018 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with the 5.7L V8 is the tongue weight rating, I would actually go with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-307-47 with a 1500lb load capacity if it were my truck.

The reason for this is the Timbren systems like the # TDR1500DQ offer a pretty stiff and unpleasant unloaded ride, where the # SSR-307-47 does not effect the unloaded ride quality.

If you feel that you need the higher capacity of the Timbren then I recommend going with the lower 6000lb rated # TDR1500DS which will have a stiffer ride than the SumoSprings option, but will be better than the heavier duty Timbrens.

I included videos for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
