Timbrens or SumoSprings For 2021 Ram 1500 Classic For Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

Reading over other peoples questions I am confused which Timbren system to purchase or go with SumoSprings for the rear. I mainly want to help with sag in towing a 31 foot travel trailer when fully loaded weighs 7600 lbs. and tongue weight rated at 712 lbs. I have a newly purchased 2021 Ram Classic 1500 Crew Cab Tradesman with tow package and use a weight distribution system. The camper does have a slide. Please help!

For your 2021 Ram 1500 Classic, the better option for your suspension enhancement between the Timbrens and SumoSprings is definitely going to be the SumoSprings, with the correct fit for your truck being the following part number:

- SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-47

The SumoSprings # SSR-307-47 are the better option compared to the Timbren # TDR1500DQ is simply because they are smoother. They both provide the same effective support for your Ram while you are towing, but the Timbrens are very stiff hollow rubber, rated at 8,600 lbs, and when you aren't towing and hit a pot hole, or drive on roads that are less than ideal, it is going to be jarring when the Timbrens make contact.

The SumoSprings will also be felt in similar situations, but it won't be a shock to the system. They are made of a microcellular urethane, and are rated for 1,500 lbs when they are compressed halfway, which allows more the springs to have more "give" when they activate.

The 1,500 lb rating is more than enough for your 700 lb tongue weight, and will absolutely provide you with the needed support for your towing your travel trailer, helping level you out while reducing body roll and sway, giving you a smoother, more controlled ride.
