Is the Pro Pride 3 Weight Distribution/Sway Control Hitch Worth Its High Cost

Question:

It appears you do not offer the pro pride 3 hitch. What are your thoughts about that hitch? Is it worth the money or allot of hype? I have a f150 and tow a 33 foot travel trailer. Looking to be as safe as possible. Thanks

I've done some research on the Pro Pride 3 hitch, but I haven't used one. It looks like a pretty neat design for trailers that have a severe sway problem. The system is said to overcome 'poor trailer design' and 'improper loading'. I've seen prices of $ 2500 quoted for the hitch.

Now for my opinion. For the small percentage of folks who have very long (35 feet +) and tall travel trailers that are very sensitive to sway that aren't loaded properly or who have ben traumatized by a severe sway incident in the past, this would be a pretty good investment. For the folks who don't have a severe sway issue, using something that's 1/4 of the cost of the Pro Pride 3 like an Equal-i-zer weight distribution/sway control hitch would be very effective.

For instance, the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET is designed for trailers with a fully loaded tongue weight ranging from 600-1000 lbs and would be very effective on everything but the very worst swaying condition.

I'd be happy to recommend an Equal-i-zer system for you if you're interested. You'd just need to reply with the tongue weight of your trailer when it's loaded and ready to tow and I'd be glad to recommend something for you.

I've linked to an install/demonstration video for an Equal-i-zer system.
