Is Load Range G Rating On ST235/85R16 Trailer Tire High Enough For Trailer With 14000lb GVWR?

Question:

Am looking for a spare tire and wheel for my new to me 18ft 14k equipment trailer. It currently has Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tires and looks like your Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16 Vesper Silver Mod Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - LR G is an exact match. Am curious though what the best # of ply tire would be for my 14k equipment trailer? Stay with the 14ply or should I get a higher ply? I will be hauling close to the 14k limit occasionally.

The Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" Vesper Silver Mod Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - LR G # TA26FR you mentioned has a load rating of 4400lbs at 110 PSI, and assuming that your trailer has tandem axles this would give you a combined load rating of 17600lbs which is more than enough due to your trailer only having a 14000lb GVWR.

Your trailer should have the 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern so the # TA26FR should be an exact replacement for you since it has the same ST235/85R16 size, but you will want to confirm you bolt pattern using the included help article.

To mount the tire to your trailer I recommend using the Brophy Trailer Stake Pocket Spare Tire Carrier - Black Powder Coat # SPTC which will fit in the stake pocket of your trailer and work perfectly with the # TA26FR.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
