Is a Weight Distribution System Needed for a 2021 Ford F-150
Question:
I was referred to this site through an rv towing forum. I was told you folks are good and patient about answering questions.... So here goes....I am about to purchase a 2021 Ford F150 XLT with a V8 engine and the Max Towing Package. Will the equipped Class IV hitch being strong enough for a travel Trailer with the loaded weight of about 11,000 pounds? Will it exceed the max tongue weight? Do I need to go out and get a weight distributing hitch? Thanks for any and all help. Have a great day. TR

The hitch capacity can be found on a sticker on the actual hitch itself. There will be two capacities listed, a standard weight capacity and one when used with a weight distribution system which will be higher. It's possible that your trailer won't exceed the standard weight capacity therefore it isn't required to use a weight distribution system but anytime you're towing near the upper end of the vehicles limits you'll want to use one. I recommend the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System part # C17501 which is a complete practically assembled system with integrated sway control.
