Can Redarc In Vehicle BCDC Charger be Powered from Truck 12 Volt 7-Way Circuit

Question:

Ive read the info, and FAQs, and want to make sure I am on the right path. I want to charge the battery on my dump trailer as I tow the trailer. Right now, the battery is not wired to charge and after 2 lift cycles, the battery is basically done until recharged. I could install the 331-BCDC1225D in the tongue box on the trailer where the battery and and hyd pump are located I would supply power to this inverter using the power lead in my 7 wire rv plug? And then wire the inverter to charge the trailer battery, correct? With this product installed, it is still recommended to unplug the trailers cord from the truck? The 2016 F-350 has a fuse for this lead factory installed, so I would only need to install the recommended fuse in-line between the inverter and trailer battery?

Yes you can use the 12 volt accessory circuit of your truck to power the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D and charge your battery.

If the 12 volt circuit of your 7-way stays active when the vehicle is powered off you'd want to unplug the connector when not towing so as to preserve the life of the tow vehicle battery. If the circuit turns off when the vehicle is off you wouldn't need to worry about this.

You are correct about the fuse too as it would only need to be installed between the charger and the trailer battery.
