In order to add a 7 way connector to your 2021 Toyota RAV4 TRD you'll need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7 (for wired brake controllers) or the # ETBC7L (for a wireless brake controller). This will use your existing 4 way plug and you'll just need to make a connection to the ground, auxiliary wire for 12v power, and the reverse light circuit and the brake control output wire (not required when using the ETBC7L).

If you've got an existing brake controller then you'll want to use the # ETBC7 kit, which will require running wires into the cab of the vehicle through the engine compartment firewall. If you don't already have a brake controller and want to avoid running wires into the cabin of the vehicle, I recommend using the # ETBC7L. Since your RAV4 won't have a plug and play adapter for a brake controller installation this is our recommended solution. This wiring would be perfect when paired with a brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180, which is a brake controller that is controlled by your smart phone (Android 4.4 or newer/iOS 8.0 or newer are required). The Echo is a plug and play solution, that simply plugs into the 7 way connector you're installing and provides you with reliable, proportional braking for your trailer.

I've linked some installation and review videos of these parts for you to check out.
