Can Fixed Fifth Wheel Hitch Be Used In 2018 Ford F-350 Short Bed
Question:
Hello I have a 2018 F350 short bed with factory puck system. Hooking up to a 2021 Arctic Wolf 3660 with a rhino pin box. Looking to get by without a slider due to weight and ease of removing it from the bed. Was considering the bandw, reese or andersen ultimate. Would prefer an actual 5th wheel hook up over the andersen. What would you suggest? Do any standard hitches have more of an offset back?

While the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3300 is a fantastic 5th wheel hitch that allows you to adjust the pivot arms for 2" of additional cab clearance and will fit the factory puck system in your 2018 Ford F-350, but you still may not be able to make very sharp turns without having cab to trailer contact.
Since you are not wanting to use a slider hitch which is typically recommended for short bed trucks like yours, your best option is to replace your pin box with a rotating pin box like the 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret - 16,000 lbs # RP61412 which would give you additional cab to trailer clearance by moving the pivot point of the trailer from the king pin to where the pin box installs on the trailer.
To determine the correct rotating pin box you will need to find the model number of your current pin box by contacting Forest River or by measuring your current pin box using the included help article.
