Is the Humming From My GR-630 Regulator Bad and What Parts to Replace It
Question:
I have a 2021 Keystone Cougar 24RDS 1/2 Ton Fifth-Wheel. The Model GR-630 Regulator on the RH side makes a high pitched humming noise whenever the RH LP bottle is in use. I have a couple of questions. Do you think its the regulator? Ive swapped the bottles, but obviously, that didnt help. Secondly, in some of the other QandAs you mention that it is a vertical regulator. Mine is mounted horizontally directly from the factory. Is this correct or does it need to be mounted vertically? Also do you sell a regulator with the hose already attached? Thank you for your help.

The noise you're hearing is likely coming from your GR-630 regulator, and it's not a sign of anything actually being amiss; the humming noise is caused by the rubber diaphragm inside the regulator fluctuating normally to keep up with the steady demand of regulating the flow of propane to the appliances. For the vertical vs horizontal regulator situation, it doesn't really refer to the mounting orientation, but where the vent on the regulator is positioned. If the vent is perpendicular to the flow of the propane through the regulators then it's a horizontal mount but if it's parallel (like the one you mentioned), the orientation is considered vertical.
Occasionally if there is an air bubble in the hoses you'll also get the humming that you're hearing. If you can adjust the flow of the propane slightly by closing the valve that might address the humming, but unless it's just too annoying to deal with it's not hurting anything and the system is working normally. We do not sell regulators with hoses already connected to them, so you would need to piece everything together. If you wanted to try replacing the regulator you would want to use the # 37207-30325 you were looking at. You can re-use the existing hose that connects the tank to the regulator or get a new one with the # 100473-20-MBS.
