In order to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR in your 2014 Subaru Outback, you will need the 7-way wiring kit you mentioned, as well as a 4-way if you don't have one installed already. The exact parts are as follows:
- T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7
- Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR
The 4-way is needed in order to activate your trailer's lights, and it will plug into the 7-way that comes with the brake controller installation kit. After that, all you need is the brake controller and you're set. You made a great choice going with the Tow-Pro Elite because it gives you the best overall control over your trailer braking.
I have added some links below to video reviews as well as help articles on brake controllers which you may find useful.
