Is a Jam Nut Needed for the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles

Your basic turnbuckle can you use a jam nut to keep it from coming loose? what diameter is the hooks?

The Brophy Basic Turnbuckles part # TDHP don't require a jam nut as there is no way for the hooks to turn loose while they are attached to the tie-down points. Once tensioned, the body would not be able to turn either without force. The thread diameter of the rod is 3/8" if you want to use a jam nut of your own but it's not needed.
