Solution to Add Longer Arm to Thule T2 Classic For Use with Fat 29 Tires

Question:

I have the Thule T2 platform bike rack, and I recently bought a fat tire bike and added a fat tire kit to the T2. The only issue now is that ratchet arm struggles to fit over the fat tire. Ive seen some people say thats because the older T2 which I have has shorter arms and work better with a longer replacement arm. Can you advise on this? Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:

You can use the Replacement Locking Ratchet Arm Assembly for T2 Bike Carriers # 752-1272-001, which will fit on Thule T2 Classic bike racks (part number 916XTR) and will allow you to have a better fit on fat tire bikes with 29" tires. I've also included a photo that one of our customers sent in that shows how they used this on their T2 to accommodate their fat tire bike.
