Recommended Ball Mount for EcoHitch 306-X7257 Class III Hitch Installed on 2017 Subaru WRX
Question:
I am interested in towing a 5x8 Uhaul trailer with the EcoHitch for my stock ride height 2016 Subaru WRX. I would like to know what is the best 2inch trailer ball mount to keep the trailer as level as possible.

When we installed the EcoHitch # 306-X7257 on a Subaru WRX, we found that the receiver sat right at 17 inches in height. I'd recommend going with the # D-4 ball mount, and Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3, with # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 63845 for a 2 inch drop. For a trailer wiring harness, use # C56259.
Once the trailer is hitched up, the trailer's tongue weight will cause the rear of the WRX to settle a bit, which would put the ball height at about 17 inches which will be perfect for the average trailer coupler height. You don't need to get this absolutely perfect, as long as you're within an inch or two of level you'll be just fine.
If you wish, you can measure the coupler height of the trailer using the information found in the help article I've linked for you. I've also linked to the hitch and trailer wiring install videos, which you might find helpful.
