How To Measure to Determine Whether Or Not Sliding Hitch is Needed on 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

Can I use non slider hitch? What hitch? Puck system moved 2 inches farther back for 2021. Is there way to measure things on truck and camper to know if non slider hitch will not hit truck cab in sharp turn? Thanks

You can take some measurements to determine whether or not you'll need a sliding hitch. You will measure from the center of the hitch jaws forward to the back of the truck cab and then you'll want to measure the width of the trailer nose.

Using the formula: (A+B)-C= Clearance
A= distance from center of hitch jaws to cab
B= sliding hitch movement (in this case it's 0")
C= width of trailer nose divided by 2 (so 1/2 the width)

As long as this number is +4 or greater, you'll have the clearance you're needing and can use a fixed hitch like the Curt # C16064. If you get anything smaller than 4 then you'll need to use a sliding hitch like the # BWRVK3775, which is the only hitch designed to fit in the OEM pucks on the 2021 Silverado 2500.
