Recommend Voltage Protector And Dogbone Adapter To Connect 50 Amp Cord To 30 Amp Coachmen Trailer
Question:
Hi, Still trying to figure out the right combination. We have a 30 Amp TT and will be camping where power source is 50 Amp, often quite aways from trailer. I bought a 50 ft 50 Amp cord thinking the larger wire would help reduce voltage loss over the greater distance. I have a 50-30 Amp adapter for the trailer. Where and how would I plug in a 55301 for surge protection? Im assuming I cant use the 50Amp surge protector? Can the 55301 be connected to a 50 Amp cord? I think I need a 50-30 dogbone to connect to power source and the 55301. Appreciate your help and thanks to individuals I have personally talked to.

You are correct that you would not want to use a 50 amp surge protector on your 2018 Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailer since it has a 30 amp cord powering the RV.
To connect your 50' 50 amp cord to your trailer you will plug the 50 amp cord into the shore power, then plug the Mighty Cord Dogbone RV Power Cord Adapter - 30 Amp Female to 50 Amp Male # A10-5030FHVP in-between your 50 amp cord and the Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector # CAM55301 you were looking at. You can then plug the 30 amp cord from your trailer into the Camco # CAM55301.
This will protect your RV from damage caused by high or low voltage, and power spikes and surges.
I included videos for all of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
