How Does a Transmission Cooler Install on a 2007 Nissan Frontier

Question:

So, do I completely take the transmission off of the standard radiator? This isnt plumbed into the original radiator correct? You run the tranny on this by itself?

On a transmission cooler like # D12902 or any for a 2007 Nissan Frontier, the new cooler is a supplemental unit. The fluid will flow from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, out of the radiator, into the new cooler, then back to the transmission. In some cases you can use a cooler to bypass the factory cooler but you would have to block off the factory inlet/outlet cooler ports on the radiator. Also a larger and more efficient cooler should be used. I have included a link to our FAQ article on transmission coolers and a link to a video showing a typical installation.
