How Can I Prevent Sway in my Trailer Without Moving the Load Around
Question:
Have tie down straps coming from you this week ... trying to eliminate a bad case of the sways. Trailer is short so moving weight fore and aft is not feasible. Possible to create a little more tongue weight by increasing the hitch , say from 2 to 4?

In your situation there will be no real difference in using a 2 or 4 inch drop hitch. With it being a smaller trailer you may consider adding a tool box to the tongue of it. I like the RC Manufacturing T-Series Trailer Tongue Toolbox part # 350970. This can not only help you store any straps, chocks or other items in it but allow you to add some weight to the tongue eliminating your sway issue.
Adding a friction sway control system like the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit part # 83660 and the Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab for 2" Hitches part # D320 is also a viable option depending on how your trailer is set up.
I like the tool box option because your are adding convenience and you are required to remove the friction sway control to back up each time which can be a hassle.
