Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with Brakes on 2020 Honda Pilot

Question:

I need to know what setup I need to purchase for my Honda Pilot 2020 to be able to use a brake controller for a trailer. i.e wiring harnesses etc.. Right now I only have a hitch on my vehicle. I do not have any trailer harnesses or anything attached. I would like to get the whole setup at once brake controller, wiring harnesses, mounting bracket for wiring harness by the hitch etc... thank you

Since you don't have any trailer wiring harnesses on your 2020 Honda Pilot you'll want to start with adding a wiring harness; for that I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118286. You can also use the Pollack # PK12711U as the mounting bracket for this connector to give this a nice, clean installation.

For the brake controller, I recommend using the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 since the installation won't require any splicing into the vehicle wiring; because your 2020 Honda Pilot did not come with a factory trailer harness the plug and play option is not available, so this would be the way to avoid any issues during installation. The Echo is controlled by any smart phone running iOS 8.0 or newer, or Android 4.4 or newer, and provides you with the same proportional braking available on other newer brake controllers. The Echo plugs into your 7 way receptacle and then accepts the trailer's 7 way plug in, so it's easy to install and use, and will be the best wireless solution to tow a trailer with brakes.

If you need locks for your ball mount or hitch mounted accessories, you can use the etrailer # e98880 for your towing accessories. If you still need a lock for your etrailer Cargo Carrier, you can use the Threaded Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Lock for etrailer Cargo Carriers - Keyed Alike # e99047.

I've linked some short review and installation videos of these parts for you to have a look at, as well.
