Do Blue Ox Base Plates Fit 2021 Chevy Spark ACTIV & Parts Needed to Flat Tow

Question:

I have a 2021 Chevy Spark Activ manual shift on order. Will the Blue Ox baseplate bx1725 work on this model? I realize the fascia may need additional trimming but I’m more concerned will it fit to the frame? What Blue Ox tow bar would you recommend if it does fit? If that Blue Ox baseplate doesn’t fit, can you recommend a different baseplate/tow bar combination confirmed to fit? I checked Roadmaster and they say no Activ model support on their website. Thank for you for any guidance.

I checked with Blue Ox, and the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1725 will fit your 2021 Chevy Spark ACTIV with a manual transmission. I have added cut out for you from the linked installation instructions from these base plates which shows the base plates on this vehicle.

Along with the tow bar you asked about, there are a number of other parts needed to flat tow your 2021 Chevy Spark ACTIV with manual transmission, so I'll make a list for you to make it easier.

- Base Plate Kit: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1725
- Tow Bar: Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar # BX7380
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - LED Bulb and Socket # RM-152-LED
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR
OR
- For a motorhome with air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # DM26VR

Along with the Blue Ox base plates, the Alpha 2 tow bar is a great option because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, and comes with safety cables so you won't have to purchase them separately, saving you an additional expense.

The tail light wiring kit will totally bypass your Spark's electrical system so you don't have to tap into it, and both the Stay-IN-Play DUO and Air Force One are strongly recommended because they are one-time installs which will never require any type of removal or reactivation, and give you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power and thus are more rigid.
