How to Correctly Choose Replacement Leaf Springs When Multiple Options Are Available At My Capacity

Question:

So I see that you have 3 leaf or 4 leaf 4,000 - 4,500 lbs trailer springs. My guess is that the 4 leaf would be more durable? What is your recommendation? Thanks for your help!

The number of leafs on the spring doesn't affect the durability or strength of the leaf spring, so there really isn't a difference between the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,500-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long # e27SR and the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e57SR in that respect. There is a difference in the height of the spring stack and the length, which is where you would want to focus when choosing the correct replacement springs for your trailer.

You'll want to measure your old springs from eye center to eye center and then choose the spring that most closely matches your old spring, so that your suspension geometry isn't effected. Springs will flatten out a little bit over time, so you'll generally want to round down; so if your springs are 25-1/2" long, you'd want to go with the # e57SR. If your current springs are longer than 26" when measured from eye center to eye center, you'll want to use the # e27SR.

If you measure your springs and find that they're significantly different from either of these two springs, let me know and I can see what else we have that might work for you.
