Hitch and Cargo Carrier for 2004 Saturn Ion
Question:
Hi. I am interested in getting a trailer hitch for my 2004 Saturn Ion. My reason for getting it is so we can get a cargo carrier to haul a mobility scooter. The scooter weighs about 60 pounds without the battery pack and about 80 pounds with it. As far as I can tell an aluminum cargo carrier will weigh about 50 pounds. Will that be too much weight? Thanks for any advice youre able to give.

The best hitch option for your 2004 Saturn Ion would be the Curt part # C11447 as it has the highest weight capacity rating at 200 lbs tongue weight. The lightest weight cargo carrier we offer that fits this hitch would be the Curt part # C18110 which weighs a total of 30 lbs. I believe your vehicle has a 100 lb tongue weight capacity which you should verify in your owner's manual but you'd need to stay under that capacity with the total of the 30 pound carrier and your scooter.
