2018 Ram 2500 5th Wheel Towing Capabilities

Question:

I have had trouble finding my bumper tow rating and my fifth wheel tow rating. I have the 3.73 rear end and the 6.4 V-8 4x4 long bed. You have given a recommendation to another guy on how to get going. I’ve found my bumper tow rating to be about 12,500lbs but fifth wheel is hard to figure out. I also have a gooseneck mount in the bed and was wondering what your thoughts were on that or a fifth wheel conversion kit. Thanks Jeff

On your 2018 Ram 2500 with the 6.4L V8 engine, it has a max payload of 3,990 pounds and best in class towing of 16,320 pounds. With the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel you're looking at # BWRVK3670 it has a gross towing weight of 20,000 lbs and a Vertical load limit of 5,000 lbs. I think you will be fine with the 5th wheel conversion kit and also with a gooseneck with a conversion kit, but realize that the companion is rated for 20 thousand pounds, but your truck is not. Be sure to NOT go over your vehicles capacity.
