Installation of Draw-Tite Hitch on 2017 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Using for Yakima 4 bike rack, fixed...not folding or swingaway. Can I install it myself? female 120# Does the fascia need to be trimmed? Will it interfere with lift sensor? Do I need to purchase anything else to do the job or use the hitch?

When installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch # e98864 on your 2017 Toyota RAV4 there will be some trimming of the fascia or complete removal of the underbody panel required during installation. I wouldn't attempt to install this hitch without an extra set of hands, but overall, the process isn't too difficult if you've got a good socket set and a torque wrench. You won't need to purchase any additional parts to complete the installation since it comes with all of the hardware included. When it comes to the lift sensor for the rear tailgate, it may limit the area that can be touched to open the gate, but it shouldn't completely disable it; we've had many customers install hitches on this vehicle and still have operation of the rear tailgate lift sensor.
I've linked a photo that shows the tools required as well as a quick installation video of this hitch that you can use to follow along with; it's really just dropping the exhaust pipe, trimming and fascia with a tin snips and bolting the hitch to the vehicle. If you don't feel comfortable completing the installation, a local garage or RV dealer with a service department could also complete this for a cost and it shouldn't take more than an hour.
